HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS
Each year, ONC through its home-based education sub-committee, screens and selects master-vendors in such areas as: Electricians, Carpenters, Roofers, Plumbers, Tailors, Caterers, Hair stylists, Fashion designers, Welders, Vulcanizers, Et Cetra.
During open enrollment period, Obazu youths are invited to apply for acceptance into the apprenticeship program.
The program is designed for youths from disadvantaged or less privileged family backgrounds. Applicants from affluent families will not be accepted.
Upon acceptance into the programs, each candidate is matched with a vendor in his or her specified area of interest.
The master-vendor then mentors the youth throughout the duration of the apprenticeship.
Upon completion of training and passing requisite trade exam (where applicable), ONC pays the vendor and provides seed capital for the youth to purchase necessary tools to start the trade.
